David Hayes leads Plessey’s strategy across technology, manufacturing and commercial execution, with a strong focus on customer engagement and long-term partnerships. He brings over 30 years of experience driving growth and innovation across the electronics and semiconductor sector.

Previously, David served as Chief Executive Officer of WaveOptics, leading its transformation from a research-led start-up into a global augmented reality optics business. Under his leadership, WaveOptics was acquired by Snap Inc. in 2021. He is also a co-founder of Haylo Ventures, a venture operator focused on the commercialisation and scale-up of deep-tech companies.

At Plessey, David is focused on integrating R&D, engineering and manufacturing with commercial delivery, building deep customer relationships, and positioning the company as a trusted technology partner in microLED displays, optical interconnects and optical computing.
