Plessey are looking for a Shift Equipment Engineer to keep our Films equipment running smoothly. In this role, you will help maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the specialist equipment used to deposit and process the thin films that form the foundation of our microLED devices. You will work closely with Process Engineers to ensure the equipment performs reliably, maximise uptime, and support the production of high-quality microLED displays.

If you have a strong equipment engineering or maintenance background from sectors such as manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, food production, or other high-tech industries, we'd love to hear from you. Full training will be provided to help you develop your semiconductor knowledge.

These roles will be based in a clean-room environment and operate on a rotating 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, consisting of 2 day shifts (7:00am to 7:00pm) followed by 2 night shifts (7:00pm to 7:00am).

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out maintenance and repair of a wide spectrum of semiconductor electronic equipment
  • Perform equipment qualification to ensure tools meet performance and safety requirements
  • Serve as an active member of the site Emergency Response Team
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with defined quality, safety, and cleanroom standards
  • Provide full support for critical equipment areas, including product loading/unloading, maintenance, process monitoring, repairs and improvement activities
  • Deliver project work and continuous improvement initiatives as agreed with the team leader
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant technical apprenticeship
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with maintenance, repair, and fault-finding on electrical, electronic or mechanical equipment
  • Proven troubleshooting, fault-finding, and problem-solving capability
  • Strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems and ability to apply knowledge to new equipment types
  • Strong team working skills and a highly motivated, organised approach with a “can-do” attitude
