Rory Cooney is Director of Photonics Systems, where he supports Plessey’s growth in optical interconnect technology and plays a key role in shaping the technical strategy.

He brings extensive experience in photonics, systems engineering, semiconductor product development, and the commercialisation of advanced optical technologies.

Previously, Rory was Director of R&D at Envisics, where he led the development of holographic augmented-reality head-up display technology from early-stage research through to automotive production.

At Plessey, he is responsible for advancing the optical interconnect roadmap, working across multidisciplinary teams to drive innovation, system-level integration, and product execution.
